Nearly two years after Suzanne Somers' passing in October 2023, her husband, Alan Hamel, has introduced an artificial intelligence (AI) replica of the late actress. Developed by Hollo and Realbotix Corp, the AI twin accurately mimics Somers' voice, speech patterns, and appearance. Hamel revealed that the concept originated decades ago and was reportedly endorsed by Somers herself.
During a public demonstration, the AI twin interacted with Hamel, responding to him in Somers’ familiar voice. The software can hold conversations, answer questions, and potentially even appear in media projects. Hamel hopes to use the technology to produce new episodes of Three’s Company, preserving Somers' legacy and presence in the entertainment world.
While the development has sparked both fascination and concern, it raises broader questions about the ethics of posthumous AI representations in entertainment. For now, Hamel’s initiative serves as a tribute, bridging technology and memory in an evolving industry landscape
