Kunlun Tech launches an AI-generated music streaming platform

The venture shows how AI is further being used in the creative industries.

Kunlun Tech, a major player in the Chinese tech industry valued at $4.8 billion, has unveiled an AI-driven music streaming platform. The new service, named Melodio, offers personalized, AI-generated music streams that adapt to the feelings and needs of listeners. With a history of notable ventures, including investments in Musical.ly, now TikTok, and ownership of web browser Opera, Kunlun is pushing deeper into the AI and entertainment sectors.

Melodio allows users to input prompts such as “energetic music for a long drive” or “mellow tunes for morning coffee,” generating customized music streams that align with these scenarios. Kunlun describes the service as offering neverending streams of real-time, customized music that users can modify, save, or share on the go.

In addition to Melodio, Kunlun also introduced Mureka, an AI-powered music creation platform aimed at both music enthusiasts and professionals. Mureka enables users to produce and profit from their AI-generated music, offering a new way for artists to engage with their audience. The platform allows users to input lyrics, reference tracks, and decide upon various styles of music through a feature called Style. Mureka also offers flexibility in song structure, letting users perfect elements like intros and choruses, and even regenerate or extend songs to their liking.

Both Melodio and Mureka are powered by Kunlun’s AI Music Generation Large Language Model, SkyMusic 2.0. Kunlun claims that SkyMusic 2.0 is the first AI music model capable of systematically producing never-ending music feeds in styles that are distinct. The model supports 31 languages, processes lyrics over 500 words long, and creates AI songs that last up to six minutes in dual-channel stereo.

Kunlun’s dual launch of Melodio and Mureka underscores its ambition to merge AI with music, offering innovative tools for both music consumption and creation. The company positions these platforms as a glimpse into the future of music, where AI complements human creativity to unlock new possibilities.
