Steve Harvey Steps Into AI Protection: A New Digital Safeguard for Creators
The television host partners with AI-driven security solutions to shield entertainment content from digital threats.
Steve Harvey is taking a stand against the unauthorized use of his image in the digital space. The Emmy-winning entertainer, known for his work on Judge Steve Harvey, Family Feud, and The Steve Harvey Morning Show, has partnered with AI licensing and protection platform Vermillio to safeguard his likeness from deepfakes and online scams.
With the rise of AI-generated content, public figures face increasing challenges in controlling how their images are used. For Harvey, the concern isn’t just about his personal brand—it’s about protecting his audience from being misled by fraudulent content.
“In today’s digital age, keeping up with the scammers using my likeness across all of the platforms is an impossible task,” Harvey shared. “My primary concern is to make sure my fans don’t fall victim to these schemes. Partnering with Vermillio gives me the tools to both protect my personal brand and, more importantly, my fans while embracing the future of AI the right way – with consent and control.”
Vermillio’s TraceID system is designed to monitor the internet and generative AI models for any misuse of Harvey’s name, image, and likeness. The platform also works to remove unauthorized content automatically, reducing the risk of misleading scams spreading online.
Dan Neely, co-founder and CEO of Vermillio, emphasized the scale of the issue, stating that an estimated one million deepfake-related pieces of content are created every minute. The company is in discussions with SAG-AFTRA and other entertainment organizations, as well as talent agencies and management firms, to expand protections for public figures.
The partnership was facilitated by Christel Sicé, chief development officer at Steve Harvey Global, in collaboration with CAA, which represents Harvey.
Neely sees Harvey’s involvement as a step toward responsible AI engagement in the entertainment industry. “With TraceID, Steve is not only protecting his own legacy but also the wellbeing of his many fans. He’s leading the way in showing how the most beloved public figures can responsibly engage with AI.”
As AI technology continues to evolve, so do the risks associated with digital impersonation. By aligning with Vermillio, Harvey is taking proactive measures to ensure his image remains under his control while setting an example for others in the industry.
